Coupling for lateral movements • Unbeatable capacity for absorbing radial misalignment • Do not produce cinematic errors in the transmission • Eliminate loads on the shafts • Mechanical protection against excessive pairs • Changeable disk |

OLDHAM-FLEX couplings are based on the use of a floating disk that can move in a radial way with regard to the two shafts, meaning it can compensate for large errors of radial alignment between them. The cubes are mechanised in tempered aluminium alloy. The disks are of acetal with excellent mechanical characteristics and low friction coefficient. Due to wear, the connector can develop some play after 107 turns in normal misalignment condition, which can be cured by changing the disk. As OLDHAM-Flex have cubes for fixing with a pass-through aperture, this means that the disk can be assembled and substituted without having to dismount the machine to separate the shafts. The radial misalignments do not produce appreciable cinematic errors in the transmission. Angular misalignment can produce small errors in a similar way to a universal joint such as a "Cardan". They are suitable for the slow actions of positioning shafts, screws, valves, etc. They should never be used for projecting shafts or for couples. |
